An Osteopath based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
I am able to treat a wide variety of conditions and muscular skeletal problems, with an emphasis on the following:
Pregnancy represents enormous physical, hormonal and emotional change.
Whilst these kinds of changes happen in all of our lives, very rarely do they happen over such a short space of time and so rapidly. I am trained to help deal with any factors that might impede or impact these important changes.
I have researched the effect stress can have on pregnancy and on the foetus. It is important to be mindful that all aspects of our being must aspire to remain healthy and balanced, not just our musculoskeletal system.
The birth of a baby is one of the most stressful events of its life. The baby is subjected to enormous forces as the uterus and powerful muscle groups contract to twist and squeeze the infant through the bony pelvic outlets.
If these birth stresses are left unresolved they can quite simply put, be uncomfortable for the baby, often resulting in chronic crying, also known as Colic.
For young children, prevention is usually better than cure. Early correction in a child’s life can make a huge difference because a their incredible capacity of change, recover and develop.
We all know about the importance of our posture and the effect long term poor posture and desk based work can have on us. I.e. Sore necks, shoulders & lower backs... but why can the pain associated with this be so preoccupying?
It's because it is not as simple as just having bad posture. The effects stress, and worse, long term stress have on our body are far more powerful and actually increases likelihood of muscular weakness and pain which can then result in poor posture.
I assess every patient I see and identify the problem causing area and the impact that it may be having on other parts of the body.
As a keen runner and cyclist I exercise everyday and understand that with sports men and women, concern over injury is usually less to do with pain and more the anxiety of not being able to practice the sport you love and is a part of your life.

I came to osteopathy as a result of personally experiencing the correlation between state of mind and state of health. After a 7 year career in the fashion industry, I came to understand the physical manifestations stress can have on one’s body. I left fashion behind and decided to embark on a career that could help guide people back to health rather than away from it. I also wanted to develop my interest in pathophysiology and human anatomy.
I believe personal development and learning should be continuous and this is reflected in my treatment, as I never rely on the same techniques or explanations. Every patient is unique and I treat what I find rather than subscribe to a formula. I tailor my treatment to the patient’s needs using manipulative, soft tissue, cranial and functional techniques.
Medicine is constantly evolving and I like to keep abreast of new developments. I recently wrote a paper on Infantile Colic in infants, particularly examining the link between stress in mothers and the incidence of colic. I am passionate about paediatric and obstetric osteopathy and plan to study for another Masters in this area in order to develop my research into the relationship between stress and unsettled babies.
